Man on firearm, assault charges

A 50-year-old man was arrested and charged after a rent dispute escalated on Monday afternoon.

The man, from Mallanganee, allegedly threatened his house mate and his house mate's children with a .303 rifle about 3.15pm at a house on the Bruxner Highway.

A third man arrived and physically restrained the alleged gunman.

The alleged gunman sustained injuries before police arrived and is currently in Lismore Base Hospital under the guard of Corrective Services.

He is charged with numerous firearm and drug offences.
