Man dies in bike accident
A MOTORCYCLIST died on Saturday afternoon after his Harley Davidson collided with a Mitsubishi Triton towing a boat at Tumbulgum.
Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Local Area Command attended the scene at Riverside Drive just after 2.40pm where they located the 45-year-old male motorcyclist lying on the road with critical injuries.
Paramedics failed to detect the man's pulse and immediately commenced CPR which was continued in the ambulance as he was raced to Tweed Heads Hospital.
Despite their efforts, the man, whose name has yet to be released, was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Ballina Crash Investigation Unit undertook a full examination of the crash scene, and the 47-year-old male driver of the Triton was taken to Murwillumbah District Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Both he and his 14-year-old passenger were uninjured.
Police will now prepare a report for the Coroner.
