Man dies after Alphadale crash

A HEAD-on collision between two utilities on the Bruxner Highway at Alphadale resulted in the death of one man about 4.30pm yesterday.

Another man was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with suspected neck and chest injuries, as well as soft tissue injuries to his head and leg.

The accident occurred about 400 metres east of the Richmond Hill Road intersection and caused the road to be closed in both directions for several hours.

Two units from the NSW Ambulance Service were on the scene within minutes of the accident occurring, but a spokesperson said the man who died was trapped inside his vehicle and they were unable to resuscitate him.

The collision happened on a straight stretch of road and police were unable to say last night what the possible cause of the accident might have been.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident.
