Man critical after crash

A MAN is fighting for his life and a woman has been injured after a crash at Terranora, near Tweed Heads.

Police said the crash happened when the woman driving the car apparently lost control of the vehicle on Bilambil Rd, 200m south of Naponyah Rd, about 10pm last night.

The car went off the road and down an embankment where it crashed into a tree.

Acting Inspector Leanne Edmonds of Tweed Heads Police Station said both the driver and the male passenger were taken by ambulance to Tweed Hospital before being transferred to Brisbane.

The man was in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries, Acting Inspector Edmonds said.

"Alcohol would appear to be a factor," she said.

Police were still investigating the crash.
