Man charged over jewel heist

A MAN has been charged over a jewel heist at Lismore.

Police said officers from the Richmond Target Action Unit had been hunting more than two months for two men who forced their way into the store on Molesworth Street at 2.30am on Tuesday, May 10.

The police say the men made off with a haul of designer watches kept in a display case at the store.

The police manhunt led this morning to an address at McKenzie Street, Lismore, where they arrested a 32-year-old man.

He has since been charged with breaking and entering and stealing from the store and was given bail to appear at Lismore Local Court on July 25.

Police said they still needed information from the public about the break-in and urged anyone with information to call Lismore Police on 6626 0599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
