Man charged with detaining wife

A MAN has been charged with allegedly detaining his wife against her will during a domestic incident in Tweed Heads yesterday.

Yesterday morning, a 34-year-old man became involved in an argument with his 33-year-old wife.

During the incident, the man allegedly assaulted her by grabbing her around the throat and making threats to her life.

The man also allegedly detained the woman in the bedroom of their home and refused to let her leave.

Officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command arrested the man this morning.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged the man with detaining a person for the advantage of occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.
