Man charged with attempting to shoplift adult magazines

A MAN has been fined for shoplifting after he tried to make a getaway from a West Ballina Newsagency with two unpaid for adult magazines stuffed under his jumper.

Police said the 50-year-old man attempted to leave the store with the magazines stuffed under his jumper at 9.45am yesterday.

On his way out of the store, an employee had asked about the hidden magazines, which caused the man to run.

The woman chased after him, managed to grab the man's backpack and, with some help, walked him back to the shop where police were called.

When police arrived, they issued the man with a ticket for shoplifting.
