Man charged after knife attack

A BALLINA man will face court today charged with reckless wounding.

About 7pm yesterday, a 40-year-old woman accompanied a 57-year-old man to his house in Crane Street, Ballina.

An argument broke out between them, during which the man allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed the woman several times in her neck, hands and right leg.

The woman was conveyed by ambulance to Lismore Base Hospital, where she is reported to be in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene at the house and interviewed witnesses.

The man was arrested and charged with reckless wounding.

He was refused bail to appear in Lismore Local Court today.
