Man allegedly found with gloves and torch in house

A NAMBUCCA Heads man has been refused bail over a break and enter after he was allegedly found hiding in a South Grafton house with a pair of gloves and a torch.

Police were called to a house in Ridge St shortly after 9.30pm on Tuesday night, and were aware the resident was out at the time.

On arrival, officers noted a rear door had been forced open.

After surrounding the premises, a systematic search was undertaken inside.

Police allege they found the 39-year-old man attempting to hide in the lounge room of the house.

He was in possession of gloves and a torch at the time.

A number of items had also been moved inside the premises, and police will allege the man was preparing to steal them before he was caught.

He was expected to appear in Grafton Local Court yesterday charged with break and enter.
