Man arrested for string of offences

A MAN has been arrested over a string of alleged break and enter and firearm offences on the state’s far north coast.

Following an investigation by police from Tweed Heads Local Area Command, about 8.20am today, the 22-year-old man was arrested at a motel in South Tweed Heads.

During the arrest the man allegedly violently resisted arrest. Police also allegedly located a pistol in the man’s vehicle.

He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he is currently assisting with inquiries into a number of aggravated break and enters and vehicle thefts in the southern Gold Coast and Tweed Heads area.

He is expected to face a number of charges.

Tweed/Byron Local Area Command Crime Manager Detective Inspector Shane Diehm said the arrest was a group effort.

“This is a result of a joint investigation with the Queensland Police. We share intelligence and investigative information on an ongoing basis,” he said.
