Man arrested over alleged rape of two children

A MAN, allegedly linked to an international paedophile network where members glorify their conquests by sharing disturbing footage of victims through the internet, has been arrested in Sydney.

The 40-year-old was the latest in a string of men to be arrested in NSW, Queensland and the UK for various child sex offences allegedly detected through an online ring which had been under investigation by Strike Force Sussex since 2010.

Detectives believe members sexually assault children, record the offences and upload the videos to the internet to be shared with like-minded people.

The Sydney man was arrested at his home in the south-western suburbs late Monday and charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and act of indecency.

It will be alleged he raped two children between the ages of 10 and 14, who had previously been identified during the Strike Force Sussex investigation.

In an attempt to protect the victims, police have not released further information.
