Man arrested for Mur'bah assault
A MAN was arrested for a Murwillumbah assault when he showed up at The Tweed Hospital on Thursday afternoon.
The 28-year-old man went to the hospital at 12.45pm where the Tweed police arrested him.
Police transported the man to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged him with causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent.
Police alleged that about 2.10pm Wednesday, a 37-year-old man had a verbal altercation with a 28-year-old man in a bus shelter in Brisbane Street before the younger man knocked the other man to the ground.
According to police, the 28-year-old man continued to assault the other male, whilst he was on the ground, before running from the scene.
Police and NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended bus shelter and conveyed the injured man to Murwillumbah Hospital before transporting him to Gold Coast.
The man charged over the incident will appear in Tweed Heads Local Court today.
The injured man is currently in a critical condition at Gold Coast Hospital.
