Man armed with crossbow charged with assault

A MAN allegedly armed with a crossbow was arrested and charged by police at Urbenville overnight.

Sergeant Brad Walpole of Lismore police said officers were called to an Urbenville address between 8pm and 9pm.

"It was reported the man had an argument with his brother and sister," he said.

"When his sister went across the road to a public phone to call for help, the man allegedly stood on the verandah of their home with a crossbow."

Sgt Walpole said the crossbow was not armed at the time.

Police attended the address and the 21-year-old was arrested.

He was taken to Lismore police station where he was charged with a number of domestic offences and assault.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Lismore Local Court today.
