Man armed with knife, bottle shot with Taser

A MAN allegedly armed with a knife and bottle has been tasered by police on Hope Island on the Gold Coast overnight after he refused to put his weapons down.

Police said they had charged a 43-year-old man following the incident.

Around 8.30pm police attended a home in Babirra Street following reports of a disturbance.

It will be alleged that on arrival police observed a man go into a house and return outside armed with a knife and a bottle.

A Taser was used to subdue the man after he failed to put the weapons down when confronted by police.

A 43-year-old, Hope Island man was charged with one count of going armed so as to cause fear and two counts of serious assault of police.

He is due in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
