Man allegedly threatened to slice victim open

A MAN who allegedly threatened to slice another man open with a large knife at Nimbin overnight has been arrested and charged by police.

It is alleged about 7:15pm last night a 58-year-old man was doing maintenance work at the Nimbin Community Centre on Sibley St and when he went to the car park he was threatened by a 23-year-old man.

The 58-year-old man told police he told the younger man that he couldn't park his car long-term in the carpark.

"This was met with a barrage of abuse before the accused threatened to slice the victim open whilst holding a large knife," Richmond LAC posted on its Facebook page.

The 58-year-old victim reported the matter to police and at 9pm Nimbin Police found the 23-year-old man.

He was arrested and taken to Nimbin Police Station where he was charged with common assault and custody of a knife in a public place.
