Man airlifted to Toowoomba after brown snake bite

A MAN has been airlifted from Goondiwindi after being bitten on the finger by what was believed to be a brown snake.

The RACQ CareFlight rescue helicopter was sent from Toowoomba to retrieve the man, 49.

The man was gathering firewood on his property when he was bitten on the middle finger of his left hand.

He was airlifted from Goondiwindi Hospital to Toowoomba Hospital as a precautionary measure.

CareFlight aircrewman Mark Arthur said people should be wary of snakes as temperatures rise.

"As the weather heats up it's probably a timely reminder that snakes will also be out and about enjoying the warmer conditions."
