Man airlifted from cruise liner with head injury after fall

A MEDICAL rescue mission at sea saw a man airlifted from a cruise ship liner in waters north of Coffs Harbour.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the ship Radiance of the Seas, 40 nautical miles (80km) north-east of Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

A 37-year-old man, with a pre-existing medical condition, suffered a head injury in a fall, the helicopter service said.  

The aircraft landed on the ship's helipad and the patient was stabilised by the helicopter's doctor and paramedic team.

He was then airlifted to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a serious but stable condition where he is today recovering.
