Man, 59, dies in car crash

A MAN in his 50s has died following a two-vehicle crash on Coolamon Senic Drive on the north side of Mullumbimby this morning.

He is thought to have been the driver of a small truck which collided with a small sedan about 9am.

Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene as well as the Brunswick Vollunteers Rescue Association unit which freed the man from the wreckage.

He was transported to Mullumbimby Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helecopter was dispatched but returned to base after the victim died.

Police have declared the accident a crime scene and are investigating.

They will prepare a report for the coroner.

The road rermains closed to traffic but is expected to opened after investigations are completed.
