Making the body beautiful
IN a world where looks seem to count for more each day a new business designed to help you make the most of what you've got has opened in Goonellabah.
Manager, Shannon Bickley together with clinical beauty technician, Katie Dunn opened Face and Body Worx in December.
"Our focus is on clinical beauty therapy using Intense Pulsed Light Treatment (IPL)," Mr Bickley said. "IPL is a more permanent procedure used for hair reduction, skin rejuvenation, vascular treatment and acne treatments."
"The treatments are much more effective than just getting a facial and they last so much longer. They are also non invasive so there is no downtime for recovery."
"We are also very affordable because we are not charging Sydney or Melbourne prices."
Both Mr Bickley and Ms Dunn travelled to Melbourne for training with the Global Beauty Group to learn how to use their new high-tech machine.
"The machine is an Ultralux 4 which has seven machines incorporated into one," said Mr Bickley.
"One of the treatments the machine can perform is fat cavitation.
"This is when the fat cells are broken down using ultrasound and the body eliminates them naturally."
Mr Bickley aims to continue expanding the business into being a rejuvenation centre, employing a naturopath and a nutritionist in the future.
He said the clinic was deliberately set up with a neutral decor, to appeal to both men and women.
"Men often don't get these treatments because they feel uncomfortable about going into what they perceive to be a women's beauty salon," he said.
Ms Dunn said they prided themselves on the thoroughness of their client consultations
"We offer clients achievable results," she said. "If we can't achieve something for a client, we don't promise it and we give them realistic options."
