Maisy Gibson shows how it's done

MAISY GIBSON is believed to be the first girl to captain a team in the 27-year history of the Lismore Under-12 cricket carnival.

Maisy, 13, is not only captain of the strong Hunter Valley team but this prodigious leg-spinner appears to be a future Australian player.

She has already played in the Under-17 country championships in 2008 and in the Under-15 country championships in 2009 as vice-captain.

The talented young cricketer is honing her skills at the renowned Hunter Sports High School and plays in the men’s third grade competition at Singleton, where she has taken 18 wickets already this season.

Maisy’s 15-year-old brother, Abe, is competing in the Bradman Cup Under-16 carnival in Wollongong this week.
