All aboard the Magic Bus for good vibes to Bello festival
THE HUGELY popular Mullumbimby-based psychedelic Magic Bus will make a special return trip to the inaugural Bello Winter Music festival in Bellingen (the winter sister of Mullum Music Festival).
Bodacious bus driver Tim Eichler will be in the driver's seat on the iconic double decker, which aims to keep the good vibes rolling all the way to the festival.
Josie Baker, Tim's wife and retro bus hostess, reckons she'll definitely have to wear a white skivvy underneath her go-go dress for the winter festival.
"Given the distance to Bellingen it will be a more chilled out affair than the normal Byron to Mullum run," she said."It's a way to keep the good vibes and music running all the way to the festival."
Following a similar format to its much-loved Mullum summer sister festival, Bello Winter Music will take place throughout the many cosy venues of Bellingen, including the Memorial Hall, Diggers Tavern, Federal Hotel, No 5 Church St, Little Red Kitchen, Bellingen Golf Club, the original Bellingen Anglican Church and St Margaret's Church Hall.
It will spill out into the streets and cafes for a family-friendly, affordable weekend of music, celebration and community.
Bello Winter and Mullum Music Festival director Glenn Wright said Bellingen and Mullumbimby had a lot in common.
"Bellingen had a similar counter-culture to Mullumbimby; it's just back from the coastal tourist destinations and it's a naturally beautiful area."
If you want to be part of the fun (think a kind of reverse Aquarius Magical Mystery Tour down the coast with awesome music) the bus leaves Mullumbimby at 9am on Friday, July 3 and leaves Bellingen to come back up on Monday, July 6.
Bello Winter Music festival is a family-friendly event.
