Madrid suffers Copa del Rey shock

FOOTBALL: La Liga leader Real Mdrid has been upset by Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.

The minnows held the Madrid superstars on their home soil 2-2 to win the tie 4-3 on aggregate and move through to the last four.

Celta took the lead just before half-time Real defender Danilo scored an own goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo replied with a brilliant free-kick, before Daniel Wass regained the lead.

Lucas Vazquez headed in Real's second but it was not enough.

Zinedine Zidane's set a new record of 40 matches unbeaten earlier this month.

But after that was ended by Sevilla it has won just once in its past five games in all competitions.

"We played a good match but in the end it wasn't possible to advance," Zidane said.

"We are disappointed, but we have to keep working and focus on the competitions we can still win."
