Drake's Lunatic Hotel may be saved

DRAKE'S Lunatic Hotel may have been given an eleventh-hour reprieve from closing its doors today after a weekend advertisement sparked buyer interest.

Owners Bob and Desley Kane bought the pub in 2002, but they've had it for sale for $1.4 million for four years.

Without any genuine buyers, Mrs Kane said they planned for today to be the last day of trading.

"There are a couple of interested buyers sniffing around now and as we were supposed to close this week they have asked us to stay open," she said.

"The broker had a lot of enquiries from an advertisement he did over the weekend."

Mrs Kane said one interested person wanted to lease the pub.

"The other person wanted time to have a look at the figures," she said.

"We're keeping our fingers crossed something happens over the next couple of weeks."
