Tattooist's apprentice immortalises love of coffee in ink
HOW far would you go to curb caffeine cravings?
Stand in line for 20 minutes?
Stand in line for 20 minutes in the rain?
Stand in line for 20 minutes in the pouring rain carrying a pile of very important, now very wet, documents?
Take it one step further and you have Brodie Jackson.
The talented Lennox Head Rock of Ages Tattoo Parlour apprentice recently had his favourite cafe's coffee cup tattooed on his leg.
Although the tattoo was part of a competition to win a week's worth of free coffee, Mr Jackson said it was more about bringing out the "lighter side" of tattoos.
"I think I did it because I like people to not think that seriously about tattoos," he said.
"I mean, it's great, I love free coffee, but I think it's more of a lighter take on tattoos rather than something with a lot of meaning, which is what people usually want to get.
"I just think that everyone wants to put their life story into a tattoo, and it's just an image on your skin."
Cafe Marius posted the competition on Facebook on October 15 urging customers to take a photo of their Marius coffee and post it in the comments.
After Mr Jackson posted his pic on the Cafe Marius Facebook page, the cafe responded saying "this is truly unprecedented … and we are speechless."
The competition prize is a $25 gift voucher for Cafe Marius to be used on any hot beverage before the end of October.
Entries are judged on creativity, number of likes and the use of the Marius takeaway cup.
The winner will be chosen today.Anyone interested in getting a tattoo of their favourite coffee can contact Rock of Ages Tattoo Parlour. You can also see more of Brodie's work on his instagram account.
