Lot of love from Labor on the table for sports park and showground
CASINO would see plenty of love from a Labor government, according to Janelle Saffin, Labor candidate for Page.
A $150,000 upgrade to carparking and lighting at Colley Park and $180,000 to rebuild canteen facilitites at the Casino Showgrounds is on the table if Labor win the election.
Ms Saffin said the projects had been identified by the Richmond Valley Council as priorities, and would contribute to community life in Casino.
“Colley Park is a major sporting hub for Casino and the surrounding area – providing facilities for netball, playgroup and scouts, as well as being the home base for the Casino Cobras football club.
“The facility has already undergone a major upgrade, and the additional funding will be used to improve car parking and lighting.
“The Casino Showgrounds are also an important part of the local community, hosting events like rodeos, racing meets and campdrafts.
“The canteen, however, is dilapidated, and desperately in need of upgrade.
“This funding will enable the canteen to be replaced and expanded, so that it can cater for both existing events, and support larger events coming to Casino in the future.”
Ms Saffin said a Labor Government would continue investing in local infrastructure as a priority.
“Unlike the Nationals, Labor believes that investing in local communities is more important than giving tax cuts to multinationals,” she said.
“I will always advocate for our local needs, because even modest investments can make a major difference to community life.”
