A WOY WOY couple are walking from Sydney to the Gold Coast to commemorate the death of their son, Lawrence Burke.

Mr Burke's parents, Laurie Burke and Leanne Jarvis, arrived at Tweed Heads this afternoon, having covered more than 800 kilometres since departing Sydney on October 1.

Lawrence Burke died on January 7 following an assault outside a Woy Woy hotel. The 20-year-old was attacked by a group of youths and died en route to hospital.

Ms Jarvis said an autopsy ruled that Mr Burke had died of natural causes, but she is calling for further investigation into the cirumstances surrounding her son's death.

Gosford police confirmed no charges had been laid over the attack or Lawrence's death.

"Our walk is to raise awareness of Lawrence's death," Mr Jarvis said.

He was such a good kid and never in trouble.

 

"I feel I've got to fight for him."

Police said they could not comment on the case, which was expected to be subject to a coronial inquest.
