London Klezmer Quartet returns
ALL-FEMALE London Klezmer Quartet returns to perform music from their latest album, To The Tavern.
This album, the band's fourth release, takes the evocation of the celebratory and soulful music of 'klezmer' (Jewish Eastern Europe music) to a whole new level.
This recording, which they will recreate live in performance for this Australian tour, is a dawn-to-dawn story about a klezmer band's arrival in a small town.
With a wealth of traditional-style compositions by the band, it features vocals by Indra Buraczewska, and offers a jazz-infused Polish theatre hit plus a song about beetroot soup.
The Quartet will also present a workshop earlier that evening (5pm) at the same venue for any instrumentalists who are keen to learn some klezmer tunes.
- At Lismore City Bowling Club (Spinks Park) on Wednesday, February 8, from 7.30pm. $20.
