Study reveals NSW loves to travel

A RECENTLY released Expedia report has found Northern NSW is full of 'travel aficionados' who use travel bucket lists to keep their dreams on track.

The report found more than eight in 10 (84%) Northern NSW residents, over 18, have been overseas.

Three quarters (73%) of locals have explored a different country in the past two years, slightly higher than the national average (71%).

The average international traveller in Northern NSW has visited nine countries, in comparison to the average Australian traveller who has visited only eight.

It also appears a weaker Australian dollar and resurgence in domestic travel are not deterring Northern Rivers residents from travelling or aspiring to travel overseas.

In fact, more than seven in 10 (73%) residents who have ever been overseas intend to travel internationally again in the next 12 months.

Those living in Northern NSW also have a number of special experiences on their bucket list, including: seeing the Aurora Borealis (35%); seeing snow at Christmas (30%); and holidaying like a VIP (29%).
