Local man died in the Philippines

DYLAN ETHERINGTON is the second local man to come to harm taking part in sports this month.

Scott Graham, 30, of Wyrallah, died on January 29 in the Philippines. It is believed he fell while bushwalking.

He had been living in the Philippines for several years, after starting work as a volunteer in with the World Agroforestry Centre on the island of Bohol.

The Northern Star reported the incident the following week, but respected the wishes of Mr Graham’s grieving family and did not publish his name.

Since August 2008, Mr Graham had been working with the Landcare Foundation of the Philippines, educating trainers in soil health and organic farming techniques.

He had also started helping Filipino friends to develop a personalised travel business, offering tourists the chance to experience the ‘real’ Bohol.

“For the short time you’ve lived on earth, you have touched countless people’s lives, who otherwise would have thought things could not get any better,” a blog farewelling Mr Graham said.
