GP sex charge trial

GOONELLABAH GP Prasannar Ramprasad Mishra is likely to have charges that he sexually assaulted a female patient heard in Lismore District Court later this year after his matter was mentioned briefly in Lismore Local Court.

The doctor was excused from attending court on Tuesday. After discussion between the Crown and his legal defence representative the matter will be rementioned on October 6 for a committal hearing.

Dr Mishra, 40, is charged with the rape and the indecent assault of the middle-aged woman; alleged to have taken place at the Goonellabah Medical Centre in November 2008. No pleas have been entered.

The Australian citizen remains on strict bail conditions, preventing him from going within the grounds of international airports or making changes to medical records or documents at the medical centre.

Magistrate Michael Dakin ordered Dr Mishra to appear at the next court date.
