Local fashionista wows them at Melb Cup with $20 dress
ALSTONVILLE fashionista Angela McCormick has made it into glamour magazine Harper's Bazaar and Elle Magazine's top ten Melbourne Cup best dressed in an outfit made for under $20.
The style queen beat hundreds of Australia's fashion hopefuls, decked out in top-tier designer outfits for the big race day.
It was Ms McCormick's fourth Melbourne Cup and first time into the glossy glamour magazine pages.
"I'm absolutely amazed," she said.
"My outfit was home-made using clearance fabric from spotlight and cost me under $20 so I'm pretty thrilled.
"I made the pattern myself as well. With some brown paper it's amazing what you can do."
Ms MsCormick said the pattern was inspired by Emelia Wickstead who designs the outfits for Duchess Kate Middleton.
The extravagant pink-feathered hat was designed and created by Clunes-based milliner Julie Casey.
"I said to her I wanted something really big and spectacular, covered in feathers and between us, that's what we came up with," she said.
