Local artists selling in Sydney

ARTISTS from throughout the Northern Rivers are being given a chance to show and sell their works in The Rocks in Sydney.

The Rocks Pop Up Project has invited Art in the Heart to activate an art space for up to two months in the historic harbourside precinct, says Lismore’s Art in the Heart co-ordinator Stephen Nelson, who is now looking for applications from artists around our region.

Under the umbrella of Art in the Heart at The Rocks, local business, arts and tourism organisations are combining to assist this country-to-city cultural road show.

Partners so far include Arts Northern Rivers, the Lismore Business Promotion Program and City Centre Manager Katie O’Rourke, Lismore Tourism and Lismore Regional Gallery. Local businesses are also being approached for sponsorship.

Stephen says The Rocks PUP has four large buildings housing artists and creative workers and another four are likely to come on stream before the project ends in October.

He believes the wealth of creative talent in the Northern Rivers was one of the reasons the offer was made by The Rocks Pop Up Project.

Stephen is hoping artists specialising in print-making, glass blowing, bespoke clothing and millinery, photography, hand-crafted wooden toys, paintings and prints, fashion and jewellery design will apply.

For expression of interest forms, email! stephen.nelson@lismore.nsw.gov.au Applications close August 11.
