Work underway for new fire station at Ballina airport

WORK has started on the construction of an aviation rescue fire fighting station at the Ballina Byron Gateway Airport.

The $12.5 million fire station should be operational early next year, and will employ 16 staff.

It is being funded by Air Services Australia.
