Finalists named in Lismore’s Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize

THE 55 finalists for the Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize 2015 is an impressive list and includes many notable, local artists.

The finalists were chosen by a panel of judges from an exceptional group of 183 entries.

The exhibition of the finalists will take place from October 31 to November 28 at Lismore Regional Gallery.

The official opening is Saturday, October 31 at 3pm.

This is a public event and exhibition entry is free.

The Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize is a biennial prize and a continuation of the Northern Rivers Portrait Prize.

From 2015 the prize has been extended from the original brief of portraits of subjects from the Northern Rivers, to include a portrait of any subject.

It also changed to include all media with the exception of photography.

This years' Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize will be judged by Fiona Lowry, an Australian Artist and winner of the 2014 Archibald Prize.
