Lismore talent to be live-streamed in City Hall film event
FROM alpacas to drag queens, musicians and unicyclists; Lismore's unique creative streak will be broadcast to the world this Friday in a variety TV show to be livestreamed from Lismore City Hall.
The TV show, Odd Socks, is being produced by Lismore Tafe Diploma of Screen and Media students and will be filmed in front of a live audience at the Norpa dance studio at City Hall.
Rohan Langford the Lismore TAFE Screen and Media course coordinator said the show was designed to show the world the Northern Rivers' "amazing wealth of talent".
"We think the rest of the world should know that - but we don't want them all to have to move here, so instead we live stream it to them," he said.
Mr Langford said the live streamed TV show would be a first for the region: "As far as I can see, this is the first time that a live streamed variety show like this has happened in Regional Australia.
"The Odd Socks show features a great line up of local talent performing live on stage mixed with pre-recorded film segments that the Lismore TAFE Diploma of Screen & Media students have put together.
"The students have been working solidly on this project for over a month now and I think that all their hard work will pay off this Friday."
Odd Socks will feature live performances from Liz Vegas, Captain Syphilis, Maude Boate and Jimmy Willing and The Real Gone Hick-Up along with pre-recorded comedy, drama and documentary segments from the Diploma students.
The Lismore live TV show could open up more opportunities for local creative artists, Mr Langford said.
"NORPA has been a great help coming on board with this project. Patrick Healey the General Manager has shown a real interest in the show and the potential of being able to live stream a project like this from City Hall," Mr Langford said.
The producers would like to have a large studio audience on the night, but if people can't make it to Lismore, the show will stay online for a month on livestream.com
