Lismore multi-storey car park will open with Stage 3A

JILLIAN Skinner may be the Minster for Health, but she is no stranger to fielding questions regarding car parking, and was ready for them during her visit to Lismore.

The $9.3m, 270-space multi-story car park at the Lismore Base Hospital precinct will open alongside the newly-completed $80.25m Stage 3A redevelopment, promised Ms Skinner.

"Surveys of patients and staff show parking accessibility is one of the main issues of any hospital development," she said.

"That's why we always allow for extra car parking.

"The 270 car parking space will be open the same time the Stage 3A development is so that we don't have people driving around and around."

Patients, their visitors and staff will pay to use the multi-storey undercover car park.

"But we have provisions for people who are holders of health cards and pensioners. People with special needs, such as those with a chronic illness, can apply for an exemption from Local District Health," she said.
