Lismore Showhorse Hack Champs to be bigger than ever

A RECORD number of horses have been entered into this year's Northern NSW Showhorse Hack Championships, set to be held at the Lismore Showground from tomorrow.

The four-day event is the largest horse show outside of Sydney.

Northern NSW Horse Show Association secretary, Libby Went, said all of tomorrow's events were for children aged under 17.

"All winners will be invited to attend the 2016 Grand National Show to be held in Sydney next year," she said.

"The Grand National is a prestigious event with judges from England and qualifiers from every state attending."

For the first time, the Lismore show's Saturday and Sunday events will be live streamed, so enthusiasts from all over the world can watch the horses and riders competing.

"We are one of the first qualifiers to have live streaming, along with the Grand National, Canberra and the Sydney Royal," Ms Went said.

"This year we have a record number of 296 horses competing, as well as 120 individual riders striving to win and attend the Grand National event.

"Competitors are coming from all over Australia."

The Northern NSW Showhorse Hack Championships will be on at the Lismore Showground tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
