Lismore council to consider plastic bag ban

SHOULD Lismore follow in the footsteps of other environmentally progressive towns and states to ban the plastic bag?

That's what Councillor Vanessa Ekins will be suggesting at tonight's Lismore City Council meeting.

"Do you use plastic bags? Tonight at council I am proposing that Lismore joins with other NSW councils to urge the NSW government to ban single use plastic bags," Cr Ekins posted on her Facebook page.

"They are banned in Tasmania, Victoria, ACT, South Australia, and QLD soon.

"What can you use instead of plastic?"
