IT TOOK them two weeks but Lisa Wilkinson and Karl Stefanovic finally reunited face-to-face over a long boozy lunch.

Today host Stefanovic and his former on air partner Wilkinson rendezvoused at Cafe Sydney yesterday, meeting around noon for what ended up being a three and a half-hour get together.

Wilkinson dubbed it: "The best lunch today with this guy" on Instagram.

Wilkinson shocked loyal viewers on October 16 when she announced she had quit Today after more a decade in the hosting chair.

The news sparked a huge debate over what our television hosts are paid, with Wilkinson quitting the show due to the fact she was paid less than Stefanovic.

Nine is yet to announce a replacement for Wilkinson, with speculation continuing Stefanovic may also move away from breakfast television.

Wilkinson will start with Channel Ten's Sunday night edition of The Project in the new year.

The veteran television host's Instagram was flooded with well wishes from fans missing her on Today yesterday.

Another follower wrote: "You two were the best combo, so complementary. must say I'm struggling to watch Today even though I love Karl, it's just not the same.".
