YOUR STORY: Lions ladies recognised for years helping others

JOAN Smedley and Shirley Dietz have received a humanitarian award for their devoted services to the Lions Club over many years.

The pair were each given the Professor Ian Frazer Humanitarian Award from the Lions Medical Research Foundation.

The award is named in recognition of Prof Ian Frazer's research into cervical cancer and his work with the Lions Medical Research Foundation.

The Award, which includes the plaques and badges visible in the photograph, is given for to people who have provided "outstanding services to the community or support of medical research". 

Joan and Shirley both work very hard in the community in assisting people in need.
