Lilly finally blooms

TONI Northfield will be hoping one of her charges can continue its recent run of success with victory in the big race at Casino today.

Proper Lilly goes for Northfield in the feature race, the Rob Green Building Final (484m).

The two-year-old has hit a rich vein of form over the past week, with wins at Casino (484m) and Lismore (420m).

After a slow start to its career, the racer now has three wins from its 10 career outings.

Stratheden-based Northfield faces stiff competition for the $2000 top prize from seven other hopefuls.

Firefly Jed, trained by Fairy Hill's Christopher Supple, could be a useful bet.

The 21-month-old racer has two wins from six outings, with both triumphs coming over 484m.

In a largely inexperienced field, Spiral Force could also be one for punters to watch.

The two-year-old has 10 placings from 19 outings and has recorded podium finishes in its past four outings at the track.

Twelve races are on the card, with proceedings to get under way at 12.12pm.
