Lights give Christmas cheer

FOR 15 years people have travelled to see the Christmas lights Pat Kennedy decorates his home with at Riverview Avenue, Ballina.

And this year the lights are even more special with Mr Kennedy using a new type of LED light that saves him 25 per cent of his power bill.

“They look so great, better than the lights I usually use,” Mr Kennedy said.

“The old type of lights inside plastic tubing used 10 to 15 watts of power per metre but these new lights only use one and a half watts per metre.”

Mr Kennedy said he still powers his lights off mains electricity.

“These LED lights use so little power but are brighter than all the other lights,” he said.

Mr Kennedy said he decorates his house with thousands of lights creating a Christmas wonderland that has become renowned throughout the area.

“I love it for sure,” he said. “The comments and the congratulations are fabulous and to see the looks on the kids’ faces is great.

“I dress up as Santa and sit in a sleigh I have sitting in the front yard.”
