Lightning, thunder, hail, rain across the Northern Rivers
IT WAS an awesome night time display of lightning and thunder last night with plenty of hail and rain thrown into the mix.
A number of storms fired up in the west across the range that moved towards the coast, at one point joining up to make a large storm that hit the Northern Rivers.
Places such as Rappille, Leeville, Coraki and Lismore saw hail the size of cricket and golf balls.
"It hailed for around 20 minutes," Coraki resident Russell O'keefe said.
"The second cell only had hail the size of 20 cent pieces but there was much more hail for about 15 minutes."
Power also was cut for short periods of time.
Today's forecast will see the chance of a thunderstorm in the north during the day.
This is because a weak low pressure trough is lying over the far northeast of New South Wales while a high pressure system is moving over southeastern Australia extending a ridge to the north.
