WHO says lightning never strikes in the same place twice?

McLeans Ridges-based veteran storm chaser Michael Bath got this video of lightning bolts striking three times in quick succession at Mallanganee, west of Casino, during yesterday's storms.

Mr Bath has been chasing after severe weather events around the Northern Rivers and beyond, taking pictures and filming videos, for something like 26 years and was one of the daring bands of storm chasers checking out the action as the storms built yesterday.

He's in for a slightly more boring afternoon today, with no weather warnings current for the Northern Rivers.

That said, we may still get a bit of a light show. The Bureau of Meteorology says there is a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight, although any action is likely to be restricted to inland areas.

Through until Thursday we can expect showers here to there and a slight easing of the sticky heat that has settled over the region today.
