Life savers need volunteers

IT has been a busy season for Ballina's surf life savers, but they are already thinking about the next season and calling for more volunteers to come forward.

The Ballina Lighthouse and Lismore Surf Life Saving Club's chief training officer, Rod Balkin, said they were hoping to run a bronze medallion course before the 2012/13 season kicked off.

"Conditions on the beaches have been pretty dangerous," he said.

"We're always looking for more people to help out."
