Your story: Exotic dances of Indonesia engage Kyogle students

ON FRIDAY March 11 the Suara Indonesia Dance Group performed at St Brigid's Primary School in Kyogle.

Students were entertained by the fantastic performance and also learnt about the diversity of cultures within Indonesia as well as Indonesian history and the stories behind what the performances represented.

"The Suara Indonesian Dance group provided students with a real life experience that contributed to their understanding of Indonesian language and the important role that the performing arts play within Indonesian culture," Indonesian teacher Loretta Morabito said.

"The students were engaged and participated in a range of dances and body percussion from many different parts of Indonesia- a wonderful learning experience for us all."

The Suara Indonesia Dance workshops have been conducted since 2001 all over the world and we were very lucky to have had them come to our school on Friday!
