THE Australian Formula Powerboat Grand Prix series is scheduled to return to Grafton in April after a dramatic start to the season at Taree last weekend.
Young pilot Corey Davoll had a spectacular barrel roll in the F3's second race.
Amazingly, Davoll emerged from his inverted craft uninjured, while the boat was surprisingly intact.
In the F3 category nine boats took to the Manning River and it was last year's champion Dave Connolly who took poll, plus the three race wins for maximum points.
The series had a boost of numbers in most of the categories, with the F1 powerboats boasting seven at Taree.
However, that category was reduced to four boats after race two on Sunday, when Brian Armstrong was collected by David Ainley at the end of the front straight.
In a tight squeeze, with three craft all trying to occupy the same real estate, Ainley ran out of room and hit the left side of Armstrong.
Information on the series can be found at formulapowerboats.com.au and can be followed on Facebook.
The Grafton round is scheduled for April 21 and 22.
