Lennox woman charged with road death

POLICE have charged a 51-year-old Lennox Head woman following a fatal motor vehicle crash in March on the Bruxner Highway near Casino.

Around 3pm on the March 20, police allege the woman was travelling in an easterly direction towards Casino in a black Subaru Liberty.

At the same time a silver Ford Falcon was travelling west along the Bruxner Highway towards Lismore.

The Subaru allegedly failed to negotiate the left bend in the road crossing the centre lines straight into the path of the oncoming Ford Falcon.

The vehicles collided head-on and the 62-year-old female driver of the Ford Falcon was killed.

The driver's four year old grandson was in the rear and suffered a fracture to his leg.

The driver of the Subaru suffered a fracture to her hip and ankle.

Police from the Richmond Crash Investigation Unit charged the driver of the Subaru yesterday with the following offences: dangerous driving causing death; negligent driving (occasioning death) and; not keep left of dividing line.

The 51-year-old woman was ordered to appear in Casino Local Court in October.
