Lennox Head boys dominate surf on their home turf

LENNOX Head surfers dominated the Far North Coast regional surfing titles on their home break at Lennox Head over the weekend.

Zac Wightman (under 18s), Mikey McDonagh (under 16s), Hunter Weston (under 14s) and Jack O'Brien (under 12s) won their age divisions.

About 80 of the best junior surfers in northern New South Wales battled it out for selection in the state junior titles.

The boys will now surf in the NSW grommet titles at Maroubra in Sydney from July 24 to 26.

Surfers came from as far as Tweed in the north down to Wooli.

They braved challenging conditions with a solid southerly swell running throughout the contest.

Despite the weather there was lots of competitive surfing in each age division.

In other results, Byron Bay surfer Joel Paxton came second in the under-16 boys final.

Touma Cameron, of Byron Bay, finished second in the under-12 boys while Nixie Ryan from Lennox Head was second in the under-12 girls.

Local surfers Zac Condon and Kian Shahar made the final of the under-18 boys.

The annual Skullcandy Oz Grom Open returns to Lennox Head in July.
