Lawyers give to chopper
MAKING or updating your will is easily put on the back burner, but now there is a good reason to do something about it.
Next week is Wills Week, which means solicitors from across the Northern Rivers will donate any fees earned in the preparation of wills to Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter.
It's is a great chance to create or update your will and give something to the helirescue service at the same time.
Wills Week participant Sharon Dowling learned first-hand the value of the helicopter last year when her husband was airlifted from the Sunshine Coast to Royal Brisbane Hospital after breaking two vertebras.
"I know I need to renew my will, and the money that I'm paying to have it done is going to the rescue helicopter," Mrs Dowling said.
"It's also commendable that so many of the solicitors around here have come on board with it."
She has also suggested for her son and daughter to get theirs done for the first time as well.
"Everyone has superannuation funds now - pretty much everyone has assets of some sort, no matter how old you are," she said.
Solicitors are located in Lismore, Lennox Head, Alstonville, Ballina, Casino, Kyogle and Evans Head.
Appointments are $80 for an individual or $130 a couple and take around 30 minutes.
Bookings close this Friday and the Westpac helicopter fundraising manager Zeke Huish urged people to be quick.
